Lessons for a Family Law Lawyer from Pentatonix

Pentatonix is the a cappella group who mesmerizes fans with beautiful and inspiring music. It’s pretty phenomenal what they create without instruments. Pentatonix makes creativity by not relying on traditional instruments. Anyone who has heard their music agrees that the music is inspiring.

In thinking about Pentatonix we realized that we are just like Pentatonix but in law. 90% of the music created uses traditional instruments in making music. Similarly, 90% of the lawyers approach a case using the same tools and instruments used over and over.

For example, when determining whether to use a worksheet A or B for child support, most lawyers will ask 1 simple question: Does one of the parents have the child less than 35% of the time? On first glance that is the best, most obvious question to ask. However, the statute also says that to be on a worksheet B a parent must contribute to the duties, responsibilities and obligations of parenting as well.

That second part isn’t so obvious. It’s what one would call “thinking outside the box.” This less than obvious question and approach is what makes Justice Legal Group unique among other lawyers. Like Pentatonix we like to use less than conventional approaches to accomplish the goals of our clients.
